Breaking: Lakers Officially Sign Andre Drummond

When the Brooklyn Nets followed the signing of Blake Griffin with LaMarcus Aldridge, the Lakers knew they had to respond if they wanted to keep up with their competition.

After much speculation and rumor, Andre Drummond’s arrival in L.A. became official just a short time ago. Team President, and GM, Rob Pelinka issued the following statement:

The Lakers have struggled with injuries all season long, first to Anthony Davis, and then to LeBron James. But even before then, there was a sense that the team was falling behind, especially in the frontcourt.

Drummond will bring much-needed depth to the center position, replacing the shot-blocking and interior play that has been missing since Dwight Howard and JaVale McGee left last summer.

The hope is that, with Dre, the Purple and Gold have the final piece they need to solidify their second-straight title. And while he won’t solve all their problems, grabbing him is certainly a step in the right direction.
