Giannis Antetokounmpo On The Milwaukee Bucks: “We Don’t Play For People To Talk About Us”

Once again, the Milwaukee Bucks are crushing their way through the regular season, currently sitting at a 27-14 record and winners of six straight games.

Giannis Antetokounmpo continues to put MVP-caliber numbers day in and day out. Nonetheless, it seems like people just don’t trust the Bucks come playoff time, as nobody seems to be talking about them as legit championship contenders.

The Greek Freak, however, is unbothered by talk. In fact, he claims that he rathers being left alone instead of being the team that everybody around the league is always talking about:

“We don’t play for people to talk about us. I kind of like it (to be under the radar). I just want to be left alone. I never liked bright lights. I never liked people talking about us. It just adds pressure to me and my teammates to come in and do what we do,” Giannis Antetokounmpo said following his team’s win over the San Antonio Spurs.

That’s just who Giannis is. That’s his personality, and that’s one of the reasons why he’s worked so hard on becoming one of the best players in the world.

Nonetheless, Giannis, the Bucks, and Mike Budenholzer have a long history of underperforming when it matters the most. That’s why, despite their impressive record in the regular season and even though they have a much-improved roster this year, they’re still hard to trust as championship contenders.

Also, it’s only natural to put pressure on a team that’s led by the back-to-back MVP and reigning Defensive Player of the Year, especially if the same thing seems to happen every time they make the playoffs. Hopefully, this will be the year they prove their doubters wrong and finally get to the NBA Finals.
