Kevin Durant To Fan Saying He’s A Scorer, Not A Shooter: “Explain The Difference”
Kevin Durant isn’t shy to call people out on social media, especially when they’re talking about him. KD can be really cool most of the time, but people always find a way to make him sensitive about any topic. A couple of months ago he engaged in a Twitter battle with a retired NFL player regarding his signing with the Golden State Warriors in 2016 and that wasn’t the only time he took to social media to prove his point.
More recently, somebody talked about his style of play, saying he’s not a shooter but a scorer and that seemingly didn’t sit well with the 2014 NBA MVP. Durant replied to this fan, asking them to explain the difference between one thing and the other.
Explain the difference then

NBA fans took notice of this and tried to help KD understand what is the difference between a scorer and a shooter.

Shaq is a scorer, not a shooter. He was wrong in saying @KDTrey5 is not a shooter but there have been players known to score based on their power alone.
KD is as good a shooter as Larry Legend.

I agree ! I think he was saying KD is a better all around player, than someone who stays in one spot. JMO.

KD isn’t even on top 20 scoring of all time list.
LeBron is, and he’ll most likely be the top scorer when he retires.

Love when you put these dudes on blast. They’re clueless about Basketball.

Some scorers can’t shoot. Some shooters, can’t score on their own. KD can do both. He’s a ball player who’s only weakness is that his game is so complete that any part of it gets torn a part because of how great other parts are. Just depends on who you’re talking to…

A shooter can only shoot, they can be slowed down. A scorer is going to give you 30+ regardless of what the defence is doing. The difference is one relies on himself to get to his spots and create from there, the other needs screens and a lot of off ball movement to get open.
— BuzzBald (@BuzzBald) March 13, 2021
The difference between a shooter and a scorer is a shooter is a shooter only relies on jumpers and can’t get to the basket as easy. A scorer can get to the basket whenever but doesn’t rely on it. Isn’t quite as lethal for outside the midrange but can knock it down
— Chase (@Chasedilla5) March 13, 2021
can score from everywhere. Midrange sniper, extremely good 3 pt shooter, can attack the basket, hit shots off pick and roll, defenders in your face. Nothing on offense you can’t do scoring wise not just strictly a shooter

This is all too minimal for KD. To be a shooter minimizes his abilites on all three levels. To say he is a scorer minimized just how great his defense is. Not to mention he has that IT factor. Oh and he on twitter ready fa the smoke.
— Jarrod Allen (@jrodslick) March 12, 2021
I’ll try; most points you ever had in a single season ranks #20 all-time, most 3pt FGMs in a single season of your career doesn’t make the top 100. It better be a compliment tho my legend
— patrick (@pdherrick) March 12, 2021
He’s wrong you’re a shooter. You also happen to be one the ten most skilled scorers ever. The difference between the two is You versus Melo. You both can score but you are significantly more efficient. The difference between scorers and shooters usually comes to down efficiency.

A shooter to me is somebody that live off the three.. some one that wants to and only wants to shoots the ball …. Kyle Korver, Joe Harris, Steve Novak… while scorer are just ballers that can get a bucket at will in various ways… Harden, Dame and You
— Midnight media (@Midnight_Givens) March 12, 2021
It’s fair to say that Kevin can score at will, he’s one of the best scorers the NBA has seen ever but that’s because of his offensive arsenal. He can shoot, he can attack the rim, he can dunk the ball, he can make difficult plays, he can do pretty much anything on the court. Maybe he’s not labeled as a shooter but he is.
