NBA Rumors: Miami Heat Could Trade For Spencer Dinwiddie

With Jimmy Butler leading Miami’s return to the top, team President Pat Riley is likely already considering a number of moves to better his team ahead of the trade deadline.

According to one report, Brooklyn guard Spencer Dinwiddie is one of the names currently on their radar.

‘The Miami Heat are among the teams that have hadinterest in acquiring Spencer Dinwiddie from the Nets, per SNY sources. As previously reported, the Pistons are also among teams who are interested in dealing for him ahead of the trade deadline.”

Dinwiddie, 27, is still working his way back from an ACL tear he suffered earlier in the season. During his last full season, he averaged 20.6 points, 6.8 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game on 41% shooting.

In Miami, he’d be an ideal fit next to Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo as a versatile scoring wing. But will he ever return to his pre-injury status, and are the Heat willing to take the risk to find out?

Needless to say, it will be a gamble for the club, who is still trying to find its place in the Eastern Conference. If Dinwiddie is even close to the player he was before the ACL trouble, it could be a huge step in helping them meet their goals.
