NBA Rumors: Miami Heat Could Trade For DeMar DeRozan

Ass a team with big aspirations, the Miami Heat are doing everything they can to improve their roster and increases their chance to win.

With just days to go before the NBA’s trade deadline, the Heat have been among the most engaged teams in the league, with multiple sources reporting their interest in a number of different targets — one of which being San Antonio’s DeMar DeRozan.

Miami has internally talked about adding DeRozan, sources tell FortyEightMinutes, though other targets, such as Kyle Lowry, are more pressing. The Heat also remain a frontrunner for LaMarcus Aldridge, though a buyout could a more likely route to Miami for him. The chances of DeRozan receiving a buyout are extremely low.

DeRozan gets a lot of criticism for his inefficiency from range, but he brings a number of other useful skills to the table.

At 31-years-old DeMar is a solid leader, dependable veteran, and one of the best finishers in the game. This season, he’s averaging 20.6 points, 7.4 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game on 49.8% shooting.

In Miami, alongside quality personnel in Butler and Adebayo, he could thrive as a third option, and he’d definitely raise their ceiling.

But will the Heat be willing to pay the price?
