Tobias Harris Speaks Out On Not Being Named An All-Star: “I Got A Bounty Out For All The Coaches That Didn’t Vote For Me And The National Media That Skipped Over Me.”
Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons are the most important members of the Philadelphia 76ers. But without Tobias Harris, there’s no telling where they’d be this season.
After a turbulent campaign during 2019-20, Harris was the subject of blame and criticism from Philly fans, who felt that he and his max contract was more of a waste of resources than anything else.
But now that he’s cleaned up his act, and turned things around, Harris is speaking out against those who continue to doubt him.
“If PHI fans understand I’m an All-Star, these are the same fans that probably woulda escorted me out my house last yr. When me and Doc [Rivers] talk about it, I tell him I got a bounty out for all the coaches that didn’t vote for me and the national media that skipped over me,” the Sixers forward said, per Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype.
While Tobias isn’t in the same air as Embiid or Simmons, his play shouldn’t be ignored. With season averages of 20.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game on 51.3% shooting, he has been a vital part of the Sixers’ resurgence this year.
And while it’s likely that he will keep getting overlooked by the fans and media alike, it will only add more fuel to the fire that has helped motivate him all season long.
