Warriors GM Bob Meyers Responds To Rumors That LeBron James Was Recruiting Steph Curry During The All-Star Game: “The Drumbeat Never Stops…”

LeBron James and Stephen Curry are two of this generation’s most successful and polarizing NBA players. Naturally, considering their talent and accomplishments, fans have wanted to see them play together, on the same team.

Apparently, so does LeBron. Earlier in the week, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst revealed that King James did a little recruiting on Curry over the 2021 All-Star break, attempting to get Curry to sign with the Lakers.

It’s not the first time talk has surfaced about Curry leaving the Warriors for some other team, and GM Bob Meyers isn’t necessarily too worried about it anymore. Here’s what he said in response to the Curry/LeBron All-Star rumors to Tim Kawakami of The Athletic.

“We’re never going to stop hearing it,” Myers said, via Tim Kawakami of The Athletic. “It doesn’t matter if a guy signs an extension anymore, whether it’s one of our guys or any guy. The drumbeat never stops. … I think rumors like that or any rumor about a great player, they’ll always be there as long as the player’s great.

But all we can do is make our place of work somewhere people show up and feel like they can compete. I think Steph’s felt like we’ve given him a really good chance in his time and career to compete individually and team-wise. And that’s what we’re going to keep trying to do. … What I would say: I think Steph’s happy. I think he’s in a good place. I think things are going to be fine with him.”

With how good Steph is, there is always going to be chatter surrounding his name, especially in regards to him potentially moving to another team.

But, at 33-years-old, it’s unlikely Curry is going anywhere, especially not with all the ties he has to Dub Nation. As a multiple-time Champion, and 2x MVP, he’s not looking to prove anything to anyone at this point.

Why not stay where you’ve been able to make such a great name for yourself?

At this point, there is no arguing that Steph has done more than enough to call his tenure with the Warriors a huge success, and who knows what more he’ll be able to do with the time he has left…
