Fans React After Steph Curry Proclaims Himself The 2021 NBA MVP: “I Probably Won’t Get It, But Whatever.”

As it stands, Nuggets big man Nikola Jokic has built a pretty solid lead in this season’s MVP race. With an incredible performance all year long, he has made his value to the team abundantly clear.

But in San Fransisco, another superstar is putting on a show: Warriors guard Steph Curry. In an interview on Wednesday, Curry boldly nominated himself as the MVP, delivering a three-word response when pressed with the question.

With averages of 31.4 points, 5.9 assists, and 5.5 rebounds per game on 49.1% shooting, he is on-par statistically to his MVP campaigns in 2014-15 and 2015-16.

What’s really holding Curry back now is where the Warriors rank in the standings. Amid a very troubling season, the Dubs are just 9th in the West with a 29-29 record.

As you can probably tell, many fans are split on Curry’s MVP case…

MVPs are rarely ever given out to a player whose team is so low in the standings, but could this year be the exception? Considering the injuries that have impacted the race thus far, it’s conceivable that Steph could pull this out if he keeps up this pace for the next few weeks.

Ultimately, we’ll just have to wait and see.
