Kirin 990A: Huawei’s first auto chipset, installed in ArcFox Alpha S smart car
For a long time, Huawei and BAIC have been working together on the upcoming model, ArcFox Alpha S smart car with self-driving automobile technology. Huawei doesn’t release its own branded car but cooperates with other automobile manufacturers to launch smart cars.
According to the latest news, on April 17, 2021, BAIC’s new energy brand – Jihu and Huawei have jointly launched the first smart luxury pure electric car ArcFox Alpha S in Shanghai.
This electric car comes inbuilt with Huawei HarmonyOS (Hongmeng OS) operating system and powered by Kirin 990A in-vehicle processor that supports 5G network and provides 3.5TOPs computing power.
Recently, a Weibo tipster discloses the core configurations of the first Huawei car chipset, but the manufacturing process is still not known. You can check the key specification of Kirin 990A below.

- CPU: 4 x Taishan V20 Lite (large core), 4 x Cortex-A55
- GPU: 8 x Mali G76
- AI: 2 x Asacend DaviniCi D110 Tiny, 1 x Ascend DavinCi D100 Lite
- Support: 5G network connection
- Computing power: 3.5TOPs
To be mentioned, It’s the first time, when Huawei’s Taishan architecture used in making car chip. Earlier, it was often used in server chips.
In terms of price, the ArcFox Alpha S smart car’s standard version priced at 251, 900 to 344, 900 yuan, and the Huawei H1 version starts at 388, 900 to high-end version 429,900 yuan.
