The Golden State Warriors Have Been Outscored By 133 Points In The Games Stephen Curry Hasn’t Played
It is clear that the Golden State Warriors are struggling this season. Despite all the talent on their roster, they haven’t been able to put it together, and the lack of a team identity culminated in a 53 point loss to the Toronto Raptors recently. That is an abysmal loss for a team that is trying to make the playoffs. What the game did make clear though, is the fact that Stephen Curry is crucial to the Golden State system. The Warriors would be even worse if Stephen Curry wasn’t on the team.
Stephen Curry’s importance was highlighted by an astounding stat, and not in a good way. Brady Klopfer of SB Nation has recently posted a statistic that showed that the Golden State Warriors have been outscored by 133 points in the games that Stephen Curry hasn’t played. Stephen Curry missed 8 games, so that’s an average of losing by 15+ points every game without Stephen Curry. Obviously, it is a little inflated by the Toronto Raptors loss, but there is still some merit to the statistic considering the Golden State Warriors are 1-7 without Stephen Curry.

This shows that the Golden State Warriors need to enact some changes in order to potentially make the playoffs. They don’t look like they can beat many teams without Stephen Curry, but they will need to figure out how to do so, so the team doesn’t end up relying on their superstar every night. Andrew Wiggins has been solid, but the team needs more offense around the roster in order to help Curry. Hopefully, with Klay Thompson returning next season, the Warriors can avoid more ugly losses.
