Charles Barkley Says That The Utah Jazz Still Have To Prove It In The Playoffs: "They Are The Milwaukee Bucks Of The West."
The Utah Jazz have been surging all season and are currently the 1st seed in the Western Conference. They have been amazing all season, and it looks as though the team as a whole has taken a leap. Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert were both All-Stars, and their play overall has been spectacular.
Despite their amazing regular season, it seems as though some people still question how well their roster will fare in the playoffs. NBA legend Charles Barkley has recently stated that the Utah Jazz are good, but they still need to win in the playoffs.
On The Steam Room podcast, Ernie Johnson and Charles Barkley discussed the Jazz, with Barkley claiming that they are the Milwaukee Bucks of the Western Conference, obviously referring to Milwaukee's playoff losses despite their amazing regular season performances over the last few seasons.
Charles Barkley: They still gotta prove it in the playoffs.
Ernie Johnson: I know they do... but going in, that team offensively and defensively, off the bench you got the 6MOTY, you got Gobert, you got Donovan Mitchell when he comes back... that is a complete team, which is a very tough "hey, we're gonna beat this team four times."
Charles Barkley: To me, they're the Milwaukee Bucks of the West. They are like, they're terrific, they're terrific, oh, they lost again in the playoffs. Until they prove that they can win in the playoffs, it doesn't matter if they have the best record in the West.
Charles Barkley makes a fair comparison between the two teams, as both have underperformed greatly in the playoffs. The Utah Jazz notably blew a 3-1 lead last season in the first round to the Denver Nuggets. While the Utah Jazz have a solid amount of talent all over the roster, they still need to win in the playoffs. However, they clearly have the ability to do so, and a solid chance to win it all.
