Despite Terms of Service criticism, New WhatsApp users are still rising

Since WhatsApp was fully owned by Facebook, it has announced the new Terms of Service or Privacy Policy, which shows that the user to share their data not only with Facebook but also with associated third-party producers to data analysis, as well as with Facebook Payments.

As stated in the new conditions, which will come into force starting from February 8th, the information shared will be used to improve the offer of Facebook and its partners’ services.

After the new terms of service, WhatsApp users have started leaving this instant messaging platform in concern to data security. And these new terms give the opportunity for other social apps like Telegram, Signal, and more to grown-up.

Due to this, WhatsApp decided to postpone the new privacy policy in order to clarify first before implementation till May 15. Also, it has spent the past several months explaining the pros and cons of new terms and there is nothing to worried about users’ chats and calls, as they are really safe and end-to-end encrypted.

Still, some WhatsApp users didn’t change their decisions and begun shifting to other messaging applications available in the market with more privacy and data security.

Telegram and Signal grow unexpectedly, due to the new WhatsApp policies:

According to the Sensor Tower data, During the first month of the year, there were 64 million new Telegram downloads and 51 million Signal downloads. In the following months, the download of these apps was decreased a lot.

However, with the incredible growth of Telegram and Signal, WhatsApp continues to maintain its popularity in the world and reaching 172 million downloads even in this situation.

It means that the new Terms and Services of WhatsApp are not bad privacy practices and the majority of users have already accepted and understand the updated privacy policy, which indicates that WhatsApp didn’t lose so many users.
