Nets star Kyrie Irving has said and done a lot of interesting things throughout his 9-year career. From his days in Cleveland to his sting in Brooklyn, he has always had a knack for drawing attention to himself.

His latest statement, however, may be among his most controversial yet.

Ahead of the 2021 playoffs, Irving spoke as if it was his last, suggesting that this may be his "final ride."

“I just want to enjoy the ride,” Irving said. “I just want to enjoy it as if it’s my last.”

Kyrie didn't elaborate further on what those words might mean for his future, but fans have speculated that it could be a hint that Irving will retire at the end of the playoffs.

Not only did the 29-year-old recently admit that he's not focused on the game right now, but he has also mentioned before that he wants to retire in his "early to mid 30s."

Still, it's possible that everybody's reading a bit too much into his words here. He is, after all, in the prime of his career.

Looks like we'll just have to wait and see.
