Kyrie Irving's Father On His Son's Broken Promise That He Would Re-Sign With The Boston Celtics: "I'm Sure He Feels Bad About It."

Kyrie Irving and his Brooklyn Nets are going at it against the Boston Celtics. The point guard has a rocky history with the C's, and the hate the fans feel for him is off the charts. 

The 2016 NBA champion promised the fans at the TD Garden that he will re-sign with the team in the 2019 free agency, which never happened. Kyrie's broken promise hurt a lot of fans, and they have let him know. 

"I've shared it with some of my teammates as well as the organization as well as everyone else in Boston. If you guys will have me back, I plan on re-signing here next year," he said in 2018.

He joined the Nets a couple of months later, teaming up with Kevin Durant and breaking the Celtics' supporters' hearts. Now he's back in Boston and fans are booing him, which his father considers is understandable. 

However, Mr. Irving has claimed that his son feels bad about not returning to Boston after making such a big promise. 

"They have a right to feel that way. Kyrie said it, and I'm sure he feels bad about it. ... He just wants to be treated as [a human being]," Drederick Irving said, via Ian O'Connor of the New York Post.

Kyrie was never able to lead the C's to the promised land. Chemistry issues and more made the task impossible to do, leading the All-Star player to look for a new challenge in the league, returning home in Brooklyn. 

The fans at the Garden are still hurt by Kyrie's action. He even admitted he knows they won't show any love, but he's ready for the challenge. 

"I am just looking forward to competing with my teammates and hopefully, we can just keep it strictly basketball; there's no belligerence or racism going on--subtle racism. People yelling s--t from the crowd, but even if it is, it's part of the nature of the game and we're just going to focus on what we can control," Irving said, via ESPN. 

The Celtics won Game 3 behind Jayson Tatum's 50-point performance. However, James Harden admitted that losing was beneficial for this team since they remembered that things won't come easy. 

Kyrie is ready to help his squad win the NBA championship, but the path to the Finals won't be a walk for them. The Nets have made many enemies in the league and the Celtics have big reasons to try to beat them this year.
