Stephen Curry After LeBron James Praises Him: "I Won't Be Giving Him A Pass Because He Likes The Way I Play This Year And Vice Versa."
Stephen Curry was honored to be praised by LeBron James, but the Golden State Warriors superstar made it clear that doesn't mean anything when they clash on the court.
This year, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Warriors will clash in the play-in tournament to define the 7th seed in the stacked Western Conference. After the Lakers finished their regular season with a win over the New Orleans Pelicans, James reflected on their next game against the Dubs and Steph.
The 4x NBA champion said plenty of good things about Steph, even picking him as the 2021 NBA MVP award winner.
“I don’t know anything else if you’re looking for an MVP. If Steph is not on Golden State’s team, what are we looking at? We get caught up in the records sometimes,” James recently said. “Steph has had, in my opinion, the best season all year.”
Curry heard Bron's comments and revealed they meant a lot to him, expressing his admiration for the King, too. Yet, he made it clear that wouldn't give him a free pass when they clash on the court this Wednesday.
"He knows when he says something people pay attention, so for him to speak on my MVP candidacy, I respect him for it, I appreciate it."
"I won't be giving him a pass because he likes the way I play this year and vice versa," he said.
The purple and gold will start the defense of the 2020 NBA championship with a win against the Dubs to secure their participation in the postseason. However, going against an inspired Curry wasn't the scenario they wanted to find.
The good news for the purple and gold is that they have good precedents against the Dubs this campaign, winning the two matchups they had in the regular season. First, they beat them 117-91 in Los Angeles on Feb. 28 and then routed them 128-97 in March.
Steph, Draymond Green, Andrew Wiggins and co. will try to turn things around this time, but the job will be hard to carry out for them. However, some people think that Curry is more dangerous than LeBron and that can be an advantage for the Dubs.
