It is true that Paul George gets his fair share of hate and criticism. Over the past few years especially, fans have not been why about taking it to him when he or his team underperforms in key moments.

And now, standing on the cusp of a Finals berth, PG and his teammates still believe that he's the most "scrutinized" NBA player in the game today.

Charles Barkley made sure to scoff at that notion in a recent conversation on "Inside the NBA."

"Every great player gets criticized. I don't wanna hear that bullcrap. Every great player -- I have got criticized, Michael Jordan (before he won the Championship), Shaw, Kobe -- everybody has gotten criticized. This false narrative, give me a freaking break."

It's hard to deny Chuck's point. Criticism is just a part of the game and even more so for superstars.

While PG might get a bit of an extra lashing by the fans and media every now and then, it's only a sign that the guy has made it as a truly elite ballplayer.

If he wants the noise to stop, though he must win where it matters most and finally show the world he can be a Championship player.
