The Philadelphia 76ers have been eliminated prior to the Eastern Conference Finals once again, and it seems as though they must make changes to their roster so they can improve. One of the proposed changes from many fans and analysts alike is to move on from All-Star Ben Simmons and try to get a perimeter player in return.

A trade scenario from Lucas Johnson of The Sixer Sense features the Philadelphia 76ers sending a package to acquire guard Kyrie Irving on the Brooklyn Nets. There have been prior reports suggesting there's a small chance that the Brooklyn Nets could trade Irving. Here is the trade package:

Philadelphia 76ers Receive: Kyrie Irving

Brooklyn Nets Receive: Ben Simmons, Tyrese Maxey, Shake Milton, 2021 first-round pick, 2023 first-round pick

This trade is a solid one for the 76ers, as they would get a perimeter shot creator in Kyrie Irving while giving the Brooklyn Nets a DPOY candidate to shore up their weaknesses on that end. However, Johnson did state that other teams may have better trade offers if the Nets were to move on from Irving.

That’s right, the Philadelphia 76ers would be getting Kyrie Irving in this deal, but they are giving up a lot in this trade. Simmons, Tyrese Maxey, Shake Milton, and two first round picks in 2021 and 2023. It’s also totally possible that the Nets would want even more too like Matisse Thybulle or for Philly to absurb DeAndre Jordan’s bad contract.

To be clear, if the Nets wanted to move on from Irving, they could probably get better trade packages from other teams. That being written, this isn’t a terrible starting point for the trade talks between the two clubs. If Simmons wants to go the Brooklyn, there is a way for him to get there. It should be noted that I personally don’t think Irving would be good for the culture of the Sixers, but Irving is probably the best value trade in this article.

There is no question that Kyrie Irving would be a solid acquisition for the 76ers, but it seems difficult to see the Brooklyn Nets trading him when they could just run it back with their stars. However, anything could happen in the NBA, and while unlikely, perhaps we could see the Nets decide to move on from Kyrie Irving.
