After Ben Simmons struggled during the 2021 NBA playoffs, the Philadelphia 76ers have been linked with a series of candidates to replace the point guard at the Wells Fargo Center.

Even during the regular season, they were linked with Kyle Lowry, a veteran that knows what it takes to win and can give this team a boost to compete for the NBA championship. Now that Simmons' future with the team is uncertain, rumors have resurfaced about the Sixers bringing Lowry home.

Moreover, one scout believes they should make this move right away if they want to get the ideal player to compete for the title.

The scout said he doesn’t feel Lowry is a $30 million-type player at age 35, but that he can still be highly effective if he came to the Sixers. Lowry is from Philadelphia, starring at Cardinal Dougherty and then Villanova before beginning a 15-year NBA career that has included an NBA championship in 2019 with the Raptors and six All-Star appearances.

“I would move heaven and earth to try to bring him home,” the scout said of Lowry. “He would be a natural for this team, a strong leader, and somebody who could take over the ballhandling load.”

Of course, trading Simmons for Lowry is something the Sixers won't do, but this scout is bringing another option to the table: give another role to Ben and let Lowry do his thing as the team's point guard.

Last year, in the bubble, Brett Brown reportedly used Simmons as a power forward, and it's unclear if Doc Rivers sees the Australian player that way, but this is definitely an interesting idea.

It could be, too, that Philly ships Simmons somewhere else and decides to make a run for Lowry, trying to assemble the best team for Joel Embiid. This offseason will be an entertaining one for the Sixers, and fans can't wait to see what's next for them.
