Jimmy Butler Hung Up On His Agent When Told He Was An All-NBA Selection: "Like, He Doesn't Care."

Sportscasting
Jimmy Butler is one of the most prominent players in the league, and for good reason. Jimmy Butler took his team to the NBA Finals during the 2019-20 season, but fell short of the championship, losing to LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers in 6 games. While the Miami Heat were eliminated in the first round this season, they have acquired Kyle Lowry in free agency, and they look like they're gearing up to make a run at the title.
It seems as though Jimmy Butler's only goal is winning the championship, to the point where he doesn't care about individual accolades anymore. When speaking to Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald, Butler's agent Bernie Lee revealed that "it's literally impossible" to call Butler and tell him about his individual accolades. Lee also shared an anecdote where he tried to tell Jimmy Butler he made an All-NBA team, only for Butler to hang the phone up on him.
Whether it seems realistic to those outside the organization, the expectation from the Heat is an NBA championship. Butler carries that same goal after coming up two wins short of his first title in his first season with the organization in 2019-20.
“Nothing else matters,” Lee said. “When Jimmy receives a personal accolade, it’s literally impossible to call him and tell him that he’s achieved this accolade. When I called him to tell him this year that he made All-NBA, I got the word ‘all’ out of my mouth and he hung up the phone on me. Like, he doesn’t care.”
It makes sense that Jimmy Butler wants a championship: that's the ultimate goal for any NBA superstar. While individual accolades do matter and are important in showing a player's personal ability, it seems as though Jimmy Butler is focusing on winning at the highest level with his team. With Jimmy Butler's abilities, it is possible that the Miami Heat get back to the Finals, and the talent level on the roster suggests they have a chance to win it all.
