Kyle Lowry has had a fantastic career with the Toronto Raptors. As a Raptors, Kyle Lowry had 6 All-Star appearances and was part of the 2019 championship run. While Lowry will forever be a cherished legend in Toronto, his time there came to an end during this free agency period. It was clear that the Toronto Raptors were going in a different direction age-wise with their core, and Kyle Lowry ended up joining the Miami Heat via sign-and-trade, to try and chase a championship with his friend Jimmy Butler.

Aside from his on-court abilities, Kyle Lowry was known as the face and leader for the Toronto Raptors. Lowry gives the Miami Heat a veteran with championship experience and someone who can mentor some of the younger players on the roster. Lowry's former college teammate Randy Foye talked about Lowry's fit in Miami and stated that he was brought in to be a leader on the team.

His confidence level is off the chart. That's what makes him exactly who he is...I think that's something he always had... I just think he's going to help in that leadership role. He's not brought in to be the guy that's going to score big every single night. Obviously yeah, he's going to have some big games. He's brought in more for the playoffs. Some nights Kyle won't be in double figures, but he'll have the assists, the rebounds, the steals. His voice is going to mean everything to those guys throughout the season. I think that's what he's brought in for, to be like an extension of the coach.

There is no question that the Miami Heat are going to be a better team with Kyle Lowry. The Miami Heat made the Finals during the 2019-20 season, only to lose in six games to LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. Perhaps Lowry's addition can help them get back to the Finals, and potentially avoid the same fate they faced before.
