Stephen Curry was the key driving force behind the Golden State Warriors dynasty which won 3 titles. There is no doubt that the Golden State Warriors enjoyed an insane run of dominance, and they made the NBA Finals 5 times in a row starting in 2015.
When the Los Angeles Clippers rose to prominence in 2019 with the arrival of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George in free agency, Patrick Beverley was one of the key role players on the team. During a regular-season game between the Clippers and the Warriors, it was reported that Patrick Beverley took a jab at Stephen Curry during the game, and stated "the next five years are mine", obviously referring to being on the loaded Los Angeles Clippers roster that many slated to win a championship.
However, Patrick Beverley has recently posted a Tweet denying that he ever said that, and told everyone to "stop listening to the internet". It's certainly a reminder that not every report is going to be 100% accurate. Of course, back then, NBA fans ran with the quote as it was obviously funny to see someone talk trash to one of the top superstars in the league.
While obviously, the Los Angeles Clippers haven't won a championship yet, Patrick Beverley was part of this season's squad that made the first Conference Finals appearance in the team's history. Patrick Beverley is no longer part of the squad as the Clippers ended up trading him to the Grizzlies this offseason, but he was part of a group of veterans that built up the Clippers' culture and made the team competitive prior to the arrival of their superstars.
Patrick Beverley will now join a young and talented Minnesota Timberwolves squad after being sent there via another trade by the Grizzlies. Hopefully, Beverley's gritty mentality gives the team a solid locker room leader, and there is no question that he can contribute to their success.
