DeAndre Jordan Expected To Sign With Los Angeles Lakers For One-Year $2.6 Million Deal After Buyout From Detroit Pistons
DeAndre Jordan was traded to the Detroit Pistons, but it seems as though he won't be staying there for long. The Detroit Pistons don't really have a use for a veteran like Jordan, as he doesn't really fit the timeline of their young core.
The Detroit Pistons were planning to buy out DeAndre Jordan's contract after he got traded there along with four picks and some money in exchange for Sekou Doumbouya and Jahlil Okafor. Shams Charania has recently reported that after that process is done, DeAndre Jordan will be signing with the Los Angeles Lakers on a one-year deal.
DeAndre Jordan is yet another former All-Star that has elected to join the Los Angeles Lakers this summer. While he isn't the athletic rim protector and finisher that he was in his prime, he was still a fairly efficient contributor this season.
Over the course of the 2020-21 season with the Brooklyn Nets, Jordan averaged 7.5 PPG and 7.5 RPG this season and shot 76.3% from the field. He will thrive with playmakers such as Russell Westbrook and LeBron James on the Los Angeles Lakers, even in limited minutes. This could be a solid move for the Lakers, and more depth on the veteran minimum doesn't hurt.
