Nikola Jokic Doesn't Want His MVP To Bring Him More Fame: "It's Not Really Fun Being A Celebrity."

Nikola Jokic was one of the best players in the league during the 2020-21 season, putting up averages of 26.4 PPG, 10,8 RPG, and 8.3 APG over the course of the regular season. He also managed to bring the Denver Nuggets to a top 4 seed, despite the absence of co-star Jamal Murray for a portion of the season. There is no questioning his talent, and he certainly deserved to win the MVP award for the season.
After winning the best individual award in basketball, Nikola Jokic will surely garner more attention around the league. While a lot of attention can have its positives, it seems as though Nikola Jokic isn't about it. Mike Singer of the Denver Post has recently reported that Jokic doesn't want his MVP to "increase his profile" while also stating that it's not "really fun" to be super famous.
A lot of players do enjoy their notoriety with fans. However, there's nothing wrong with Nikola Jokic's viewpoint, and just because he's the MVP, doesn't mean that he has to enjoy all the fanfare that comes along with that status. At the end of the day what matters is his performance on the court, and there are few criticisms that can be thrown at his direction based on that.
The Denver Nuggets will look to be competitive next season. They should be able to stay afloat until Jamal Murray returns, and it is notable that they still managed to go 9-1 after Jamal Murray went down with his ACL injury, which propelled them to the 3rd seed that they managed to retain for the rest of the season. Hopefully, they are able to replicate that for at least a part of next season.
Nikola Jokic will be key to how the Denver Nuggets perform next season. They should be a contender for the championship once they're fully healthy.
