LaMelo Ball picked things right where he left them last season, dominating the game with his Charlotte Hornets. Even after their first defeat of the season, Ball's squad ranks 3rd in the Eastern Conference, showing they are ready to take the next step in the association.

The 20-year-old had a terrific rookie season, and now it's time to confirm he is the real deal. So far, things have been good for the youngest Ball brother. Melo is earning a lot of praise around the league. Some analysts even predict he could become the face of the NBA if he keeps getting better

Former NBA player JJ Redick recently broke down Ball's game, comparing it to Jason Williams, one of the most electrifying and entertaining players in NBA history. Talking on his 'The Old Man and the Three,' Redick explained (2:04):

“It’s a little like J-Will [Jason Williams], ‘White Chocolate’, who I played with in Orlando,” Redick said. “LaMelo, at this point, we can comfortably say is going to be more prolific. He’s going to win more accolades than J-Will, but J-Will was a great NBA player. But that’s sort of what I see.”

“The daring, the risk-reward value proposition that [Ball] takes, literally on a play-by-play basis, is something to behold. The confidence and the courage to make those plays, it’s awesome. It’s fun to watch. He’s one of my favorite players to watch right now in the NBA.”

Jason Williams always put up a show. His flashy passes were something great to watch for fans. Melo can do the same, but he can make a more significant impact on the game with his style of play.

After entering the league surrounded by doubts, the young point guard is earning his stripes. He still has a lot of time to improve his game, but Melo is already making noise with his squad.

The Charlotte Hornets found their star in this player, and he's seemingly ready to build something good at the Spectrum Center. Time will tell if he can win with them. Still, everybody within the organization is excited about the future with this young star leading the way.
