Anthony Edwards On His Tense Stare Down With Jimmy Butler: "He Ain’t Finna Fight Nobody Out There. ... That’s Stuff For The Birds."

The Minnesota Timberwolves faced the Miami Heat on Tuesday night, upsetting one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference 113-101. They were fearless against the 2020 NBA finalists, just like Anthony Edwards was when Jimmy Butler tried to intimidate him. 

In the third quarter of the game, Ant-Man was whistled for traveling. Butler ripped the ball from Edwards' arms, which didn't sit well with the sophomore. He shoved the veteran swingman with his left hand and Jimmy didn't like it. He stood in front of the young player and stared him down. Edwards didn't back down and stared back at Butler. 

After the game was over, Edwards talked about the incident, saying neither he nor Butler would fight anybody, dismissing the stare down and calling it fake since nobody would throw hands. 

“He ain’t finna fight nobody out there,” Edwards said, via Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic. “All that walking up on each other, that’s stuff for the birds, man. I ain’t about to fight. I don’t get into all that. That shit be fake.”

After the altercations between Nikola Jokic and Marcus Morris, Rudy Gobert and Myles Turner and LeBron James and Isaiah Stewart, Edwards learned that almost every time, players act that way to impose their will. They know a fight would bring big consequences for them financially. 

Besides, if they find a guy with no fear of retaliating, things get a lot more interesting. But, then again, it's hard for us to see two NBA players fighting to settle whatever differences they may have. 

He's very funny and has always curious things to say, but that doesn't mean Anthony Edwards will back down when somebody tries to bully him. The 2020 No. 1 overall pick has learned a lot about the league and how most players act. Jimmy Butler was recently clowned for waiting until he was away from Nikola Jokic to yell at him before clarifying he didn't tell anything to the Joker. 

The tough guy era is over and Ant-Man is well aware of that.
