The Oklahoma City Thunder have received terrible news regarding their newest young star, Chet Holmgren. The rookie center will miss what would have been his first season in the league after picking up an injury over the weekend.

Trying to get ready for the upcoming season, Holmgren played in a couple of Pro-Am games, showing interesting stuff. However, things came to an abrupt end before they even started when Chet joined LeBron James, Jayson Tatum, and more stars at Jamal Crawford's The CrawsOver.

Chet tried to stop LeBron from scoring and got hurt in that play, touching his ankle right after, showing that he wasn't well. The Thunder ran some tests on the ankle and feared that he had torn ligaments.

Their worst fear has been confirmed, and the player will miss the entire 2022/23 season, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

Oklahoma City Thunder 7-footer Chet Holmgren will miss the 2022-2023 season with a Lisfranc injury to his right foot. Holmgren, the No. 2 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, suffered the injury in a Pro-Am game in Seattle on Saturday.

This is a big blow for the player and his team since they hoped to kickstart something good together. The Thunder have a terrific group of young players that could make a lot of noise in the future, and they expected Holmgren to join them. Unfortunately, that will have to wait to start. In recent times, we've seen rookies miss their supposed first season only to bounce back stronger. Perhaps this will help Holmgren more than he thinks, and he'll be more productive once he finally laces them up in the NBA.
