The NBA has a lot of talented point guards, but only a handful of them can be considered elite by fans, analysts and other players. Right now, we have stars like Luka Doncic, Stephen Curry and Ja Morant running the show, but there are other players that can do great things on the court and lead their squads to get wins.

Trae Young is one of those, and even though he's not the most famous point guard of them all, the Atlanta Hawks star has shown his quality time and time again. With his height and the fact that he's one of the lightest players in the league this season, he doesn't look like the most marketable player of all.

Still, Trae has let his game speak for himself, although he has made some enemies for talking again after beating his rivals. Young is one of the future faces of the league and one of the best in his position

Michael Porter Jr. On Why Trae Young Is A Top 3 Point Guard In The NBA

Denver Nuggets' young star Michael Porter Jr. is a big fan of Trae, and recently called him a top 3 point guard in the league. MPJ joined Richard Jefferson and Channing Frye on "Road Trippin'", revealing his thoughts about Young and why he thinks he's underrated.

Via Basketball Network:

"Trae Young, he's an underrated superstar because to me, he led the league in points and assists; but people don't talk about him like a top three or four points guard. But to me, he kind of is because he took Atlanta to the Eastern Conference Finals, and he passes, and he scores the ball as good as anyone."

Jefferson and Frye agreed with Porter's take, but they also clarified that the competition is hard for Young, naming the other PGs that can be ranked ahead of the Hawks talisman.

Jefferson: "He belongs in that category, no one's saying that Trae ain't that dude, but it's hard to like, when you got to surpass those guys. I'm not going to say he's better than Steph".

Frye: "Top five, for sure. But Luka's a point guard. Luka, Steph, Dame, Ja, Trae.”

Trae had a magical 2021 NBA postseason, shocking the entire world with a deep run, eliminating the New York Knicks in the first round and causing the fallout of the Philadelphia 76ers in the second round of the playoffs. They were only stopped by the eventual champions Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference Finals, but Trae still left his everything on the court.

This season, the Hawks have new hopes to compete, as Trae is thriving alongside Dejounte Murray. The point guard can surprise everybody again this season and take the Hawks to the Finals, but that's a long shot right now.
