LeBron James' SpringHill Company Is Reportedly Taken Seriously In Hollywood: "Now, There's A LeBron Era"

LeBron James' SpringHill Company is seen as a legitimate entity and are being taken seriously in Hollywood, according to a USC professor.

When LeBron James moved to Los Angeles to become a Laker following the end of his second stint with the Cavaliers, there were rumors about his priorities. Some thought he was more invested in becoming a part of the movie business than winning more championships, and he proved them wrong almost immediately by winning it all with the team in 2020. 

However, this is not to say that James is not interested in being a part of the show business. While his Space Jam movie didn't quite reach the level of Michael Jordan's, it still made a profit. And Hustle was a huge success as well, both being made possible through the SpringHill Company, which was founded with LeBron James alongside Maverick Carter. And while some might think that this is just another foray into Hollywood by an athlete, the reports suggest it's a lot more serious than that.

USC Professor Of Cinema Todd Boyd Says The SpringHill Company Is Being Noticed In Hollywood

LeBron James is not the first sports star to try and make it in show business. It's not as easy as it looks though, and most stars aren't seen as people that can last in the cutthroat world of Hollywood. However, according to Todd Boyd, also known as the Notorious Ph. D, the Professor of Cinema and Media Studies at USC, James and Carter are being taken quite seriously (via Sportskeeda). 

"LeBron made his name as a basketball player initially," Boyd said. "So there's no guarantee when he came into Hollywood that he was gonna have the same success in that environment. ... They're seen as a legitimate entity as opposed to an opportunity to make a fast buck. They're taken seriously.

"There's Jackie Robinson's era; there's Muhammad Ali's era; there's Mike's era, and now, there's LeBron's era," Boyd said. "Their legacies are different based on the individual, but you can think about it as a collective whole. That’s everything that’s happened from 1947 to the present."

This is big for LeBron James, he has stated in the past that his ambition is to own an NBA franchise. Considering how expensive those are, he has to build his wealth to incredible levels to be able to make it happen. And while James is already a billionaire, getting established and growing bigger in this industry will help him grow his wealth even further. While this is all great though, the focus will primarily still be on taking the Los Angeles Lakers as far as he can this season.
