Dejounte Murray was expected to become the new leader of the San Antonio Spurs, but his timing was very different from the team's, which ultimately led the front office to deal the point guard to Atlanta.

He's now a part of the Hawks, where he's living some drama amid the tense relationship between Trae Young and the team's front office, which resembles a little bit to what he lived during his days with the San Antonio Spurs.

Murray recently sat down with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson on Showtime's "All the Smoke," where he called out the Spurs for playing mind games with him. He really didn't have a good time there and doubled down on these comments, taking a big shot at one of his former teammates.

Dejounte Murray Is Upset With Tony Parker Since His First Seasons In San Antonio

The young guard had a legendary teammate in Tony Parker, but the Frenchman didn't stick around that long to pass his knowledge to Murray. The now Hawks player criticized Parker for refusing to mentor him and sign with the Charlotte Hornets the moment he knew Murray took over from him (51:20).

“That was the year I took the job from [Tony Parker]… I know he ain’t like it. Cause if he liked it he would’ve mentored me the way he should have. He wouldn’t have went to Charlotte.”

Murray developed into a very good player who became an All-Star for the first time last season. He was seemingly invested in the Spurs, but the team had different plans, and didn't want to waste his best years. Murray instead was traded to the Hawks, but right now his situation doesn't look a lot better.

The Hawks are involved in controversy too, and the good thing they aspired to build this year could end up blowing up. Trae Young isn't on the best terms with the team and that could lead to some surprising moves on the roster, which could leave Murray as the leader of the squad or give him the keys to the car of Nate McMillan's team.
