The Dream Team in 1992 is still considered the most incredible team ever assembled. With Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, and Magic Johnson leading the way and many other historically great superstars on board, there is no dearth of stories about them. Their practices and scrimmages were the stuff of legend, the way all these stars interacted is something fans still talk about.

Be it the legendary images of Michael Jordan playing ping pong while Larry Bird sat drinking beers, or MJ going after Chuck Daly trying to get him to play a golf rematch, it seemed like a lot of fun off the court. But on the court, things didn't start very great. The Dream Team lost on the first day in the first scrimmage at camp against a team of college stars. And some fun stories came out of that as well.

Chris Webber And Penny Hardaway Got Michael Jordan To Give Them A Lot Of Stuff

After the college kids won against them, the superstars came together and put them in their place the next day. But for youngsters like Penny Hardaway, Chris Webber, and Allan Houston, the experience itself was incredible. and they tried to get what they could out of it, quite literally. GQ shared their story of how they went up to MJ's room to try and cop a few things from the world's biggest star at the time.

Penny Hardaway: "We went to MJ’s room afterward and you know how college kids are: 'Hey, man! Lemme get some shoes? Everything in your room—just let us have it, bro! I know you can get some more!'"

Chris Webber: "Penny didn’t tell you we were on a covert mission. I got socks. I got T-shirts. I asked Jordan for an earring. Some of the stuff I have, my grandkids will have to take it to the Hall of Fame, because I’m gonna keep it until I die. It was awesome. It was the best time. It was the best time."

While they never reached MJ's level, Penny Hardaway and Chris Webber both became stars in the NBA in their own right. The idea of them being young and fangirling over Michael Jordan is easy to understand but funny to imagine. And the sort of things they got from His Airness that day must be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars in this day and age.
