Stephen Curry is undoubtedly the best thing that has happened to the Golden State Warriors in recent history. Since Curry's rise to stardom, he has helped the Warriors win four NBA Championships in six NBA Finals appearances.

Curry is obviously one of the best modern-day superstars, who can change the outcome of any game within minutes. But what else makes Stephen Curry special? Well, it is obviously being a great leader for the Warriors.

He has proven that on various occasions. One of the biggest examples of it was when the Golden State Warriors welcomed Kevin Durant to the team. Instead of getting jealous about sharing the court with another superstar, Curry sent an uplifting text message to KD about supporting him.

How Did Stephen Curry Become A Great Leader?

Nowadays, when fans hear about the Warriors, they think of Stephen Curry. To be honest, it seems almost like a lie that the Dubs once thought of trading Curry to the Milwaukee Bucks due to his injury troubles.

But instead of trading Curry, the Warriors decided to include Monta Ellis in the trade, and that decision turned out to be the groundwork for Steph's journey as a leader.

"When we traded Monta, and we were in Sacramento, I remember coach Jackson pulled me in the hallway, and he was like, 'You're getting the keys to the team.' I was like, 'Alright.' ... I mean obviously you need people to pour like a vision into you in terms of what you are capable of. What your full potential is. Not just as a player but as somebody that could impact the locker room in other different ways. Impact the organization through leadership to kind of walking into the accountability of what that means.

Thankfully I've heard this saying though, 'When the student is ready, the teacher will be.' That was a very strong reflection point in my life because you realize you have to be yourself first and foremost. Whatever your personality is. ... To realize the opportunity that I had not just be a great basketball player, but to I guess walk into a role of leadership that wasn't gonna be easy. But demanded another level of awareness and commitment. Consistency. Kind of wisdom in terms of like what does that actually mean and figuring out for myself."

For most young NBA stars, getting handed the keys to the franchise is a dream come true. But looking at Curry's answer, it felt like he accepted the opportunity first and learned how to do it later.

Well, whatever be the case, Curry has done an amazing job of being a leader for the Warriors, and he will continue to fulfill that role until he retires from the NBA.
