Anthony Edwards Calling Out NBA Players For 'Load Management' Sounded Exactly Like What Kobe Bryant Once Said

Anthony Edwards said if he could change one thing about the NBA, it would be how much players sit during the season, making the same point Kobe Bryant once did.

One of the most discussed topics in the NBA recently had been load management. Players are sitting out of regular season games more than ever before, the goal is to stay as healthy as they can for the playoffs. While managing workload and injuries is important, this has led to a lot of superstars missing games, which is not good for the league and the fans who pay to watch them play.

Many people have differing opinions on the matter. Richard Jefferson made an emotional plea for players to stop sitting out based on his own experiences as a child. And some media members have bashed stars for missing too many games as well. Anthony Edwards, who became an All-Star this season, seems to agree, highlighting it as the one thing he would change about the NBA.

"If there's anything I would change about the league to make it better, probably just all the guys sitting, resting. That's the only thing I probably don't like. Just play, man. If you 80%, if you 70, just play man. I don't like all the sitting, missing games like... These people might have enough money to come to one game. And that might be the game they come to and you sitting out. I take pride in trying to play every game, because I don't might be one fan that's never seen me play and I'm trying to play."

This is a very mature take for a 21-year-old, and he has backed it up. Edwards has played in all 61 games for the Timberwolves this season. And the amazing thing about his quote on this is, it sounds exactly like what a certain Kobe Bryant once said.

Kobe Bryant Said Something Very Similar About Load Management In 2019

Kobe Bryant was the ultimate competitor, he would be on the floor, playing through injuries if he needed to. And Edwards' words were reminiscent of what Kobe had said in 2019 during an interview.

(starts at 36:05 minutes)

"What the hell is that man? I don't know what that is, it's crazy. You got a lot of people paying their hard-earned money to come watch you perform. It's your job to be in shape, it's your job to perform at that level every single night. And as a competitor, I'm not ducking sh*t."

Something the NBA gets accused of a lot is no longer caring about and putting fans first recently. This issue is nuanced and the players have good points too, but it's good to see that Anthony Edwards shares the same mentality that Kobe Bryant once had. Players should be treated like humans, but they cannot be forgetting their responsibilities to the fans either.
