Klay Thompson Says He Wanted To Break Stephen Curry's Record Before Making 12 3-Pointers

Klay Thompson took it personally when trying to beat Stephen Curry's record of 11 3-pointers in a single game.

Klay Thompson had an incredible Friday night, leading his Golden State Warriors to a big win against the young but competitive Houston Rockets.

In the process to secure the 116-101 win, Thompson made 12 straight 3-pointers, and his reasoning behind that was to beat his Splash Brother.

“I wanted to get that 12th so bad so that I could actually have one more record than Steph for once. He got all the three-point records so that one felt good.”

Klay is not wrong, as Steph holds a lot of records when it comes to 3-pointers, including the most 3-points made in NBA history. Steph is definitely the greatest shooter of all time, but Klay is right there, maybe one or two spots behind Curry. 

The Splash Brother went off on the Rockets, dropping 42 points for the night, and grabbing 7 rebounds. He's averaging 21.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game this season, shooting 42.6% from the field and 40.8.% from beyond the arc.

Golden State Warriors Bounce Back After Painful Loss vs. Los Angeles Lakers 

With this win, the Warriors returned to the .500 mark after suffering a big loss to the Los Angeles Lakers in the first game back after the All-Star break. While the Lakers looked inspired during that game, and even Stephen Curry noticed that the Dubs couldn't find their pace during the game, ultimately losing 124-111. 

The Dubs have had a tumultuous NBA season that looked complex even before the beginning, as Jordan Poole and Draymond Green starred in a serious altercation during training camp. 

Injuries have been present in the season too, especially with Stephen Curry. The point guard has missed a chunk of the campaign, and the good thing is that the Warriors have survived without him. Once Curry comes back, this team will have the chance to compete against better rivals. 

If they can recover Gary Payton II for the 2023 playoff, the Warriors could sign their name on the list of candidates this season, but time will tell how the rest of the campaign plays out for them.
