DeMar DeRozan had a heartfelt message to his teammate Lonzo Ball whose devastating injury news continues to do the rounds on social media.

"His spirits have been good every time you see him, talk to him," DeRozan said, according to NBC Chicago. "He's a helluva dude. The strength he got to have every time we see him be positive, being in a great mood, says a lot for him."

The Athletic's Shams Charania broke the news of Ball potentially missing the 2023-24 season after a series of knee injuries derailed his run this edition. On his part, DeRozan focused on Ball's health more.

"For me, it just gets to a point where all I care about is his well-being," DeRozan opined. He also added that it was bigger than the basketball and he was more worried about his mental state.

"I could care less about anything to do with the team," he opined. "Just his mental well-being and hope he got all the positive backing that he needs just to get through whatever it is he has to get through."

Ball's injury comes as a massive blow to the Bulls. Their backcourt continues to remain depleted and only time will tell how the team decides to go about business without the mercurial guard in their ranks.

Will DeMar DeRozan Stay With The Chicago Bulls Next Season?

When it comes to the Bulls and their big 3 of DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, and Nikola Vucevic, trade talks aren't far off. Especially for DeRozan, whose future in Chicago has been in doubt.

Earlier this month, NBA insider Sam Smith outlined his thoughts on DeRozan's time with the Bulls

"Well, DeMar has been pretty open that he thought he was going to the Lakers and home as a free agent two years ago and that’s where he wanted to go," Smith said. "But he’s since said he believes in finishing what he started and has grown to like Chicago and the Bulls."

"Things change depending on, as I’ve said and we know, how the postseason goes. But with one more year on his contract, I expect DeRozan to be with the Bulls next season. Perhaps not after that."

For now, the Bulls and DeRozan's objective would be for the side to make the playoffs. The team is wobbling in 12th place with a 31-37 record and time is running out for the to make a dash for the postseason. With Ball out, their already dented run just got a lot tougher as the regular season hurtles to a close.
