Los Angeles Clippers forward Paul George is one of the best two-way players in the league when healthy, and he is one of the faces of the Los Angeles Clippers. There is no doubt that he is the key to the Clippers potentially making a deep run in the postseason this year.

As of right now, Paul George is dealing with a knee sprain that he sustained against the Oklahoma City Thunder. NBA insider Shams Charania recently provided an update on the star, stating that the Clippers will need to get out of the first round for Paul George to have a real chance of returning.

"The Clippers believe, I’m told, they’re going to have to get out of the first round for a real window for Paul George to return," Charania said. "You get out of the first round and you give yourself a chance to get Paul George back."

There is no doubt that the Los Angeles Clippers will need other players to step up in the absence of Paul George. A lot of the attention will likely be on Russell Westbrook, as he will likely be the No. 2 option behind Kawhi Leonard while Paul George is out.

Paul George has averaged 23.9 PPG, 6.1 RPG, and 5.1 APG for the Los Angeles Clippers this season. This is one of the better offensive seasons of his career, and hopefully, he will continue to play at a high level for a long time.

Paul George Admitted That He Can't Be The No. 1 Option On A Championship Team

Even though Paul George is a fantastic player, he isn't necessarily a superstar-caliber player that can lead a team to the championship. In fact, George has admitted as much, and he understands that he isn't a leading superstar on a title team.

"My early years in Indy, I was in that phase of like, that's what you want. You want to be the guy, you want to want everything to fall on you," George said. "Then after years of being there, going through injuries, and then seeing how the league was shaping up it was like man, I can't do this alone. Then it evolved to like, how can I be of service to a team? I had to be honest with myself that in order for me to win at the highest level or get to where I want to get to, I don't think I'm the no. 1 guy."

There is no doubt that Paul George understands his optimal role, and he is definitely among the better No. 2 options in the league. If Kawhi Leonard is available in the playoffs, they will have a chance against anyone, but Paul George is clearly still integral to the team's success.
