Kevin Durant Reveals His Pick For The 2023 NBA MVP
Kevin Durant reveals his pick on who should win the 2023 NBA MVP award.
The 2023 NBA MVP award is a couple of days away from being announced, and everybody has something to say about it. It was a fierce race all season long, but the award will be given to one of three finalists.
Kevin Durant has recently shared his opinion on this race and even picked between Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid, and Nikola Jokic (12:00 mark).
"I didn't want to pick because I knew I'mma get Jokic's fans on my timeline and Giannis' fans, I know it for sure... Joel's my guy. He was my guy last year too for MVP. I was the guy first, then somebody fell into my knee two years in a row, but outside of me, I'mma go with Embiid," KD told Eddie Gonzalez on The ETCs podcast.
This season presented another incredible race for the coveted award and the usual suspects are competing to get it. However, many think that Embiid is the rightful winner this year. Stars like Damian Lillard, Stephen Curry, and Jimmy Butler have backed the Philadelphia 76ers superstars, and now Durant has joined that party.
Durant Mentioned Other Players Among Those With MVP-Caliber Seasons
KD also had the chance to talk about other players who had incredible seasons but didn't make the cut. Prior to making his pick known, he mentioned Luka Doncic and Jayson Tatum as a part of this elite group too, giving them flowers for their performances.
Tatum led the Boston Celtics to the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference while becoming the first player in franchise history to average 30 points per game. Luka didn't have the same fate, as the Dallas Mavericks missed the playoffs, but he was a beast on the court once again.
The league is in great hands now, and all these players will be in the mix for this award, who was renamed after the GOAT Michael Jordan, for many years to come.
