The Portland Trail Blazers have been a team with not so much luck at the time of chasing an NBA championship, and the last time they looked like a serious threat to the rest of the league, injuries ruined their plans. 

The trio of Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Greg Oden was really great for the Blazers, posting a 50-12 record during the 62 games they played together.

Impressive as this is, it's a shame that they only played 62 games together in Portland. Injuries were ruthless with Brandon Roy and Greg Oden, who appeared to be ready to lead their squad to the promised land, which never happened. 

These three players had everything to be great in the league, especially when they joined forces, but injuries ruined everything the team wanted to see from them. 

In their first season together, they posted a 54-28 record in 2008-09, finishing 4th in the Western Conference. They lost in the Western Conference first round against the Houston Rockets. 

The following season, they boasted a 50-32 record, finishing 6th in the West. They would lose against the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the playoffs again, which meant the end of this association. 

Oden played 82 games during his time in Portland, posting 9.4 PPG, 7.3 RPG, 0.5 APG, and 1.7 BPG in 22.7 minutes per game. He had to retire early from the NBA after attempting a comeback with the Miami Heat, but it was clear that Oden could never fulfill his potential.

Brandon Roy averaged 19.0 points, 4.7 assists, and 4.3 rebounds in 321 games for the Trail Blazers while becoming one of the biggest 'what ifs' in NBA history. His injury story, just like Oden's, hurt his career just when he started looking like the leader of this team. 

As for Aldridge, he averaged 19.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in 648 games in Portland. He did have a long career, joining the San Antonio Spurs and Brooklyn Nets later in his career.

LaMarcus Aldridge Just Retired From The NBA After 16 Seasons 

Aldridge announced his retirement last week for the second time in his career. Following a return due to a premature retirement due to a heart condition, the big man decided it was time to call it a career and finish his tenure in the league. 

For his career, Aldridge averaged 19.1 points and 8.1 rebounds in 1,076 regular-season games. He was named a 7-time All-Star and 5-time All-NBA during his 16-season career.
