Paul George Says Everyone Should Leave Russell Westbrook Alone When He Is Having A Bad Offensive Game: "Michael Jordan Missed Shots. It Happens."
Paul George explains the best way to help Russell Westbrook overcome a shooting slump.
Every player in the NBA is bound to have a few poor shooting nights. The Los Angeles Clippers star Russell Westbrook is no different.
He had one of those nights in Game 1 vs. the Phoenix Suns. But he contributed to the game in other ways. His teammate, Paul George, recently explained what's the best way to help Russ during a bad offensive game.
"You say absolutely nothing to him," George told Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report. "That's part of the game. Michael Jordan missed shots. It happens. Every night is not going to be a hot night. Every night is not going to be a 30-, 40-point performance. But I think his ability to not let that waver his overall game is a confidence flex of his own. It almost makes him go harder because he's not making shots. He's going to make his imprint somewhere else."
Russell Westbrook is one of the most confident players in the NBA. Even after shooting poorly from the field, Westbrook can make an impact on the game in a different way.
In Game 1, Brodie did so by playing elite defense against the Phoenix Suns. Westbrook's amazing defense was one of the biggest reasons behind the Clippers winning the opening game of the series.
Russell Westbrook Wants To Do Anything To Help The Clippers Win
Russell Westbrook was a great pickup for the Los Angeles Clippers earlier this season. Even on lousy scoring nights, Westbrook always wants to contribute to the Clippers in other aspects of the game.
Following the Game 1 win, Westbrook doubled down on his mentality as he talked about why he takes pride in his game.
"My whole career, I've been priding myself every season to do everything. I think I'm one of those guys that can do everything each and every night. Whatever's needed of me to win the game, to win the game, I'll do it. I am just grateful that T-Lue and the staff believe in me that even when my shot isn't falling, they'll allow me to be in the game."
After an underwhelming shooting night in Game 1, Westbrook didn't let his mistakes repeat in the second game of the series.
The Clippers may have lost Game 2, but Russ had a sensational night where he recorded 28 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 blocks. He shot 9-16 from the field, including 2-3 from the three-point line.
