Kendrick Perkins Says Celtics' Season Was A Total Failure: "I'm Very Disappointed..."

As an 8-year Celtics veteran who won a championship with the franchise back in 2008, Kendrick Perkins had every reason to believe in the Cs and root for their run to the Finals. But it was Perkins who bet against the Celtics to close this series and now that he has been proven right, he is not mincing words to describe their underwhelming run.

Speaking on NBA Today, Perkins got real on the Celtics and labeled the season as a failure despite being one win away from the NBA Finals.

"A complete failure, a disappointment, a bust. To start the season, this was the team that was the favorite to win it all. They added Malcolm Brogdon, they had nothing missing as far as winning a championship. And I'm disappointed in the city of Boston and the state of Massachusetts," said Perk. "They've been attacking me but I didn't know the bar and the standard was making it there. In the 8 and a half years I was in Boston, it was always called the city of champions... this was a bust and I'm very disappointed in the Celtics fan base on how they handled this season."

The Celtics showed a lot of fight at the end there and had a lot of people believing they could come back from down 3-0 and move on to their second-straight Finals. In the end, however, the Cs couldn't handle the moment against a well-disciplined Heat team that just refuses to crumble.

2023 Is A Big Offseason In Boston

So, where do the Celtics go from here? Obviously, we know that Jayson Tatum is the key to their success and they will l continue to build around him as long as he wants to stay there. The question is, what kind of players do the Celtics need to surround him with? Regarding Jaylen Brown, is he really the right co-star for no. 0?

Questions will be asked in the front office, and it will be interesting to see how this team answers them considering how close they've been to winning it all.  Regardless, no matter what happens this summer, the franchise will be under pressure to perform well just like they are every season.

With 17 titles to their name, the standard couldn't be higher and this group has yet to. deliver on expectations.
