NBA Rumors: Dallas Mavericks Are Interested In Anthony Davis

With the Los Angeles Lakers 2022-23 done and dusted, the focus surrounding the team shifts to the trade market, and early calls say that the Dallas Mavericks are interested in Anthony Davis.

According to NBA analyst Colin Cowherd, "Dallas would love AD. He solves all their issues. He gives them a second scorer, he's not at all ball dependent. Luka [Doncic] gives you the 70 games and the consistent energy. Anthony scores 23 without setting a pace for him, he offers rim protection."

He further added: "The Lakers still think LeBron James has a soft spot for Kyrie Irving. I think the Lakers and the Mavericks, you will hear in the next month. I believe that. I think you have to take the phone call and listen."

For the Mavericks, adding Davis to their ranks would mean parting a major chunk of their assets. The Lakers center parting ways with the Lakers would also only materialize if James were to retire, which in all likelihood, may not happen this season if LA can manage to land another superstar to their fold.

Will The Lakers Trade For Kyrie Irving This Summer While Retaining Anthony Davis?

Chances are that the Lakers will be tempted to go after Kyrie Irving again, and with the mercurial guard coming in to watch some of the Lakers games at home, there has been buzz that LA might land him in a blockbuster trade.

And even if it means holding on to Davis, the front office will be forced to pack in quite a few assets and their picks to get the mercurial guard in their ranks. Should this indeed come true, the trio of James, Irving, and Davis will instantly transform the Lakers into bonafide title contenders.

However, it's worth noting who the Lakers can offer in exchange. While they remain adamant that Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura will be part of the team next season, it means the rest of the squad might be looking at new homes.
