When Michael Jordan Met LeBron James For The First Time He Didn't Give Him Any Advice But Gave Him His Phone Number

Michael Jordan first met LeBron James many years ago, and they had an interesting first interaction that ended with the GOAT handing his phone number to the young King.

Michael Jordan and LeBron James' careers have always been linked to each other, and no matter how many years go by, they will be compared to one another as soon as fans or analysts have the opportunity.

However, as stated before, they have always been cool with each other and don't lose a chance to show their love and admiration. This all started a while ago when MJ decided to bring James into his private gym and ultimately gave him his phone number.

Author Jeff Benedict recently recalled the first encounter between a young LeBron and Michael Jordan of the Washington Wizards.

"These guys saw this kid actually could create his shots and score against them as an incoming high school junior," Benedict said on The Dan Patrick Show. "And then, more importantly, when LeBron was leaving that last day of being there, when they were walking out of hoops, Jordan pulls him in. And that's the moment when LeBron and Michael meet for the first time."

Benedict explained that LeBron was the only high schooler at Jordan's private gym, and after watching the King doing his thing on the court, Jordan was delighted by the future 4x NBA champion.

"This is really important because Michael invites him back inside," Benedict continued. "And by this time, Michael has decided he is going to come back and play, but he hasn't announced it yet. So the public doesn't know. He takes LeBron inside his private gym, and they talk for about 15 minutes. He doesn't give him any advice but he gives him his cellphone number, and this is a pivotal moment for LeBron James."

It's great to see that MJ had the utmost respect for LeBron from the very beginning. He saw something special in this kid and didn't hesitate to offer him whatever help he needed in his journey. As we know now, LeBron never called MJ, but he learned a lot from him over the years.

Jordan tried to protect him at a very young age, even preventing James from playing against NBA stars. Over 20 years later, the King has become, to many, the greatest player to set foot on an NBA court.

Many people try to pit MJ against Bron, refusing to see that there's nothing but love and respect between them.

LeBron James Was In Awe When He First Met Michael Jordan: "Like Meeting God"

James knows that meeting Michael Jordan was an incredible experience, and he described it as 'meeting God' because that's the way a lot of people portrayed Jordan.

"It was godly. I've said that over and over before, but it was like meeting God for the first time," James said. "That's what I felt like as a 16-year-old kid when I met MJ."

Now, LeBron is seen the same way by other people, and he's always tried to inspire them with his good actions. Allen Iverson expressed that he admired the way LeBron behaved on and off the court, and after many years, none of that has changed.
