Chicago Bulls Contacting Teams To Discuss A Potential Zach LaVine Trade
The Chicago Bulls finished a disappointing 2022-23 NBA season where they hoped to improve their performance from the last campaign, but in reality, they were a lot worse.
The Bulls couldn't even make it past the play-in tournament, losing to eventual Finals runners-up Miami Heat in the play-in finale. Now, they are involved in many rumors around the league, and according to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, the Bulls are gauging interest in Zach LaVine.
"Wishful executives will keep their eyes peeled on Portland and Damian Lillard, but it’s the Chicago Bulls who have started contacting teams, quietly gauging the trade interest in Zach LaVine, league sources told Yahoo Sports. It remains to be seen just how willing Chicago is to part ways with LaVine, or if it receives a commensurate offer for his services," Fischer writes.
This would be a big shock to the NBA, as the Bulls' have stated they want to keep building around their Big Three of DeMar DeRozan, Nikola Vucevic and LaVine. The team had high expectations for this trio in 2021, but things didn't work in their favor and now are seemingly studying their options for the future.
LaVine has shown that he can be a good player on a contender, but during his time in Chicago, he never showed anything special to make people think he can be the No. 1 option on a championship team.
Still, he can be a good target for many around the league. It's still unclear if Chicago received any offer for him, but this player shouldn't miss suitors in the market. In 349 with Chicago, LaVine has averaged 24.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.4 assists, shooting 47.2% from the field, 38.6% from deep, and 83.6% from the free-throw line.
He's only made the playoffs once with the Bulls. The then-defending champions Milwaukee Bucks defeated them in the First Round of the 2022 postseason.
Zach LaVine Expected To Be Traded Before His Bulls Contract Is Up
LaVine's future is believed to be outside Chicago, as the guard is predicted to be traded before his current deal with the Bulls expires. He's been linked with a series of teams in recent times, especially the Los Angeles Lakers.
Knowing his quality, he will have more than one option to be traded, but right now, nobody knows if the Bulls are actually trying to move him or just wanted to stir the pot with this move.
Besides the Lakers, the Miami Heat and Portland Trail Blazers have been mentioned as potential landing spots for LaVine.
