Jae Crowder Calls Out Monty Williams After Reports That He Disliked Coaching Him: "Aww Man Coach Really?"

The Phoenix Suns have retooled the team that went to the NBA Finals in 2021, adding Bradley Beal in the offseason, having already acquired Kevin Durant at the trade deadline. 

They also made another major move when they fired Head Coach Monty Williams. The cracks in that group had already started showing earlier when Jae Crowder sat out till he was traded away. And reports have since come out that it was Williams that had problems with Crowder. Jae had a response to that which he then deleted. 

"Aww man coach really?! That's how you feel?" Crowder wrote.

The Phoenix Suns had a deep roster for the longest time, but that has now been replaced by a top-heavy team where four players are getting paid over $160 million. They ironically need players like Jae Crowder, although it will be tough for them to afford the premium ones. 

A player they might trade for depth is another that Monty Williams didn't like. Deandre Ayton is a former No. 1 overall pick, but he has not been able to fulfill his potential so far. His contract is a big one, and the Suns will likely move on from him in their quest to build a proper contender.

Things Have Not Gotten Better For Jae Crowder Since He Was Traded

Jae Crowder is now a free agent and will likely command a pretty big contract considering what he brings to teams. However, his value has fallen off following his decision to sit out till the Suns moved him. And if that wasn't enough, even his stint in Milwaukee was a bad one. 

“I’ve never been in a situation like that,” Crowder said. “Eleven years. Check my résumé. I’ve been playing. I’ve always been playing. I’m very confused as to why I was brought here. I don’t know my purpose here and why I was brought here.”

Crowder started just three games for the Bucks and then none in the playoffs, so his frustration is understandable. If things continue like this, he might have further problems signing the sort of contract he is hoping for in free agency. In any case, it seems that the Suns' team that went to the Finals in 2021 had a lot more problems than people realized.
