Kyrie Irving Will Reportedly Meet With Phoenix Suns Once Free Agency Opens

The 2023 Kyrie Irving saga involves only the possibility of the player joining a different team to continue his NBA career. The talented point guard appears to be the top target for the Dallas Mavericks entering free agency, but other teams will try to make a run for his services.

The Phoenix Suns will reportedly be one of them, as they're set to meet Irving in Los Angeles once free agency opens this Friday.

"Star point guard Kyrie Irving is expected to meet with the Phoenix Suns along with the Dallas Mavericks and possibly other teams when NBA free agency begins on June 30, league sources tell TNT/Bleacher Report. The Houston Rockets could seek a meeting as well, according to sources."

Chris Haynes adds that the meetings are expected to take place in Los Angeles. This could work wonders for the Los Angeles Lakers, as LeBron James reportedly wants to team up with Irving again. However, the King isn't willing to go to Dallas, which leaves Kyrie with only a few options on the table.

The point guard has been linked with a series of teams since the offseason started for him and the Mavericks, including the Suns and Houston Rockets. The Arizonians are the only team taking action now, but the Rockets could try to make a run for Kyrie.

The Suns Already Have Four Max Players On The Roster

It will be interesting how the Suns could pull this off as they already have four max players on the roster. Adding Kyrie Irving to Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Bradley Beal and Deandre Ayton would be incredibly difficult for the Suns, but perhaps a sign-and-trade involving Ayton can solve that potential problem.

Let's not forget that the Mavericks are the apparent frontrunners in this race, and many think Irving will stay put in Dallas to run it back with Luka Doncic and co. Still, some teams could show up and change everything, including the Suns and their four superstars.
