James Harden's Relationship With Sixers GM Daryl Morey Is "Fractured"
James Harden and Daryl Morey shared a great relationship during their tenures together on the Houston Rockets and Philadelphia 76ers.
However, with Harden seeking a trade out of Philly, their relationship is reportedly broken. NBA insider Shams Charania recently reported on the matter in an appearance with 'The Rally.'
"What I learned in Las Vegas was, the relationship between James Harden and Daryl Morey, the president of basketball operations in Philadelphia, is essentially severed, it’s essentially fractured throughout this process," Charania said. "There’s no longer that valve of open-ended trust that we’ve seen over the course of 692 games that Daryl Morey and James Harden had been together in Houston and in Philly."
Shams added: "When James Harden opted in, the decision to work together on a trade that stemmed from James Harden believing that there was no real intention from the Sixers in giving him a long-term offer as a free agent."
James Harden requested a trade after opting into his $35.6 million player option. If the Beard's relationship with Morey is beyond repair then he'll most likely get his wish fulfilled sooner rather than later. He averaged 21.0 PPG, 6.1 RPG, and 10.7 APG in the 2022-23 NBA season.
James Harden Only Wants To Join The Los Angeles Clippers
Despite missing the NBA All-Star for the first time after 10 years, Harden had an excellent regular season.
The 33-year-old is still more than capable to be a great asset for a championship contender. Keeping that in mind, the former NBA MVP wants to be traded to the Los Angeles Clippers.
But it's easier said than done. Daryl Morey's asking price for James Harden was reportedly deemed too high by the Clippers. At the end of the day, Morey will put the 76ers' needs ahead of Harden's, and it could mean trading him to another team instead of the Clippers too.
