Kemba Walker Signs With European Team AS Monaco Basket

Kemba Walker was one of the premier guards in the NBA during the 2010s, making four All-Star teams during his time with the Charlotte Hornets and the Boston Celtics.

During the 2022-23 season, Kemba Walker played for the Dallas Mavericks, but he was only around for nine games before the Mavericks waived him. He has since been without a team but has now signed for a EuroLeague basketball team, AS Monaco Basket.

"Kemba Walker has agreed to a deal with the European club AS Monaco," reported ESPN.

Kemba Walker played for the Charlotte Hornets for eight seasons and, during that time, was one of the most elite guards in the league. However, injuries got the better of him and despite being 32 years of age, he finds himself unable to get a contract in the NBA.

For his career in the league, Walker averaged 19.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game, and it resulted in four All-Star selections for him. He was widely considered a Top 10 guard for most of his career in the league, but injuries can get the best of the greatest talents. Walker had an opportunity to get a contract with a team, but it didn't end up working out.

Kemba Walker Was Linked With The Los Angeles Lakers

Kemba Walker could have played in the league if his workouts had gone better. According to reports, he was working out with the Los Angeles Lakers, but it would seem that things haven't worked out for him. At 32, he could play a season abroad and come back to play in the NBA, but the fact that the situation with the Lakers didn't work out is a bit of a red flag.

"Sources tell Lakers Daily that the Lakers are considering bringing in Kemba Walker for a workout," said Dewey. "The team is looking for another ball-handler with LeBron James expected to miss extended time due to a foot injury."

Kemba Walker now has the opportunity to be a star in the second-best league in the world, though. He has the talent to be the best player in the league even now, but if he can't get it going overseas, then his NBA career will likely come to an end.
