James Harden Explains Why He Called Daryl Morey A Liar
James Harden believed he would be traded "quickly" after opting into his player option
The Philadelphia 76ers recently ended trade talks about the guard
Harden's preferred destination is the Los Angeles Clippers
A lot of the trade rumors this summer have been regarding James Harden after the guard opted into his $35.6 million player option and requested a trade from the Philadelphia 76ers. Thus far, however, the team has not found a suitable offer to move the guard.
On James Harden's end, it seems as though he is doing everything possible to get traded by the Philadelphia 76ers. In fact, we previously saw James Harden publically slam Daryl Morey, calling him a "liar". Though some people have speculated that Harden was talking about not getting a promised long-term contract from the 76ers, recently, the star revealed that he told league investigators that his comments were about Daryl Morey promising him that a trade would "quickly" happen.
"As part of NBA probe into his “liar” comment, James Harden told league investigators he was referring to Daryl Morey telling Harden he will trade him “quickly” following the $35.6 million opt-in for 2023-24, per sources. The 76ers’ stance now is they expect to keep Harden."
It is easy to see why James Harden would be upset at not getting moved quickly. James Harden is favoring a move to the Los Angeles Clippers, and he likely wants to join them before the season starts so he can have some time with his new teammates and develop chemistry. The Clippers would be one step closer to championship contention with him on the roster, and Harden seems like a good fit for the franchise.
This past season with the Philadelphia 76ers, James Harden averaged 21.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 10.7 assists while shooting 38.5% from 3PT range. He will be a difference-maker for any franchise willing to trade for him, and we'll see where he ends up in the future.
James Harden Is Willing To Get Traded To Other Franchises Than The Los Angeles Clippers
Even though the Los Angeles Clippers are his preferred destination, it seems as though James Harden's goal is to simply get away from the Philadelphia 76ers. It was previously reported that Harden is open to getting traded to teams other than the Clippers, and if that is the case, the 76ers will likely get some more offers ahead of the start of the season.
Hopefully, James Harden ends up on a contending team in the future. He definitely deserves to compete for a championship, and a number of teams could offer him that opportunity.
