NBA Fans Roast Julius Randle For Complaining To An Official While A Man Proposed To His Girlfriend On The Court

During the game between the New York Knicks and the Detroit Pistons on Thursday night, we were treated to quite a wholesome moment. A man proposed to his girlfriend on the court and she gratefully accepted the proposal, which was great to see. In the background, though, Julius Randle could be seen arguing with an official.

I'd love to give Randle the benefit of the doubt here that he had no idea what was going on, but that wasn't the case. The two lovebirds kept going at it for quite a while, and Randle could have stopped at any point but kept complaining the entire time.

This special video for the couple is now forever going to have Randle moaning to an official in the background, which is honestly a bit hilarious. To be fair to the 29-year-old, he probably didn't realize he was being recorded along with them, as it wouldn't have been that obvious.

NBA Fans Roasted Julius Randle

While the proposal and what came after could have made this a viral video in itself, Randle's actions meant it was guaranteed to explode on social media. NBA fans roasted the big man for complaining during the special moment.

One called out Randle for always killing the vibe.

A fan said this was the funniest thing they saw on the night.

One joked that the headlines would be that Randle hates marriages.

Randle was hilariously described by one fan.

A fan stated what would have made this even more funny.

That would have been funny and sad at the same time if boos were just ringing out while this couple were having their special moment. In the end, the two went home happy, as did the rest of the crowd, as the Knicks won 118-112.

Julius Randle's 2023-24 Season

Randle seemed on a historic pace earlier this season, just for the wrong reasons. Through six games, he was shooting a woeful 27.1% from the field, which was the second-worst in NBA history, among players who had shot at least 90 field goals.

Fortunately for him, things have gotten much better since then. The two-time All-Star is now averaging 20.4 points, 10.2 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 0.8 steals per game while shooting 40.6% from the field.

Considering how badly he started, he has played very well to get those numbers up to where they are now. Against the Pistons, he had 29 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists, and 1 block. Randle tends to be maligned for his attitude and for the fact that he can be quite inconsistent, but he has played his part in the Knicks being 11-7 this season.

Unless some major injury issues pop up, they should make the playoffs this time around as well, but they're obviously not going to seriously contend for the title. The Knicks need to make a big move for that, but one doesn't seem to be on the cards as of now. Donovan Mitchell could be available next summer, though, and that's probably when New York goes all out.
