Isiah Thomas Calls Out Delta Air Lines For Not Letting Him On A Flight: "I Experienced A Level Of Incompetence And Disrespect"

Isiah Thomas was a notable absentee on NBA TV on Monday night and it turns out it was because Delta Air Lines did not allow him to board a flight. Thomas took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to call out the airline for their incompetence.

"I experienced a level of incompetence and disrespect Delta Air Lines (at) HPN airport today on my way to work. To all my fans who were looking forward to seeing me on NBA TV tonight, you can blame Delta for not letting me on the flight which I had a paid ticket and seat assignment. Happy 2024."

Thomas appears to have had a flight from Westchester County Airport in New York to Atlanta, where the NBA TV headquarters are based. As he didn't specify why he wasn't allowed to board, fans started to wonder if the 62-year-old was late. Thomas made it crystal clear that he was on time.

"Yes I was on time for Delta Air Lines flight took pictures and signed autographs for gate agents. Ticket in hand went through security no issues. 2 hours before take off. Stop with the I was late narrative, facts only don’t make it up. I hope all passengers are treated respectfully."

It is rather puzzling why they wouldn't let him board if he had the ticket and was on time. Also, these airlines normally make exceptions for celebrities if there is some sort of an issue, which makes it more confusing.

Whatever happened, Thomas isn't divulging that information, so we're unlikely to ever find out what exactly went down. Delta, meanwhile, confirmed that they had located his complaint, and apologized for what he had to endure.

Let's just hope that Thomas does not have to go through another experience like that.

NBA Fan's Wild Joke On The Delta Air Lines Gate Agent's Identity

As is always the case in these situations, fans on social media started to joke on the matter. One fan named Shaun came up with a particularly hilarious joke that Michael Jordan was the Delta Air Lines gate agent, and he put Jordan's face on a picture to show it.

"I was there Delta Air Lines and this gate agent was VERY RUDE. Isiah met all the criteria to be on the flight but he wasn't let on."

I'm not sure there will be a funnier post than that all year and we aren't even a week into 2024. I'm sure Thomas wouldn't have been amused by it if he came across it, considering how he felt disrespected by the whole situation, but it was ingenious.

Some started to joke that Jordan had purchased Delta Air Lines after selling his majority stake in the Charlotte Hornets, and was responsible for Thomas not being allowed to board.

Isiah Thomas Agreed With Becky Hammon's Comments On Jalen Brunson

Prior to this, Thomas found himself in the news for supporting Las Vegas Aces head coach Becky Hammon. Hammon had received criticism after saying that Jalen Brunson is not a 1A, who can be the best player on a title-winning team as he is too small. She also stated that Stephen Curry is an exception, as he is the greatest shooter ever.

Thomas agreed with Hammon's controversial statement on Brunson. He believes basketball does favor taller players, which is what makes his and Curry's achievements so impressive. The two of them along with Dwyane Wade and perhaps Chauncey Billups, are the only smaller players who have managed to lead a team to a title in the last 40 odd years.
