Rachel Nichols On Dennis Schroder: “Anthony Davis Being Out During The Lakers’ Losing Streak Has Gotten All The Headlines, But Missing Dennis The Menace At The Same Time Has Been A Big Part Of What Was Going Wrong.”
When people talk about the Los Angeles Lakers, they tend to focus on the two superstars on the team, Anthony Davis and LeBron James. It is natural that the two would be a focus of the media, as they are easily the two best players on the team. After Anthony Davis’ injury, the Los Angeles Lakers went on a four-game losing streak after their win against the Timberwolves, which has brought the spotlight back on his importance to the team. However, there’s been another absence from the Los Angeles Lakers that is notable: point guard Dennis Schroder.
Dennis Schroder is an elite point guard who averaged 18.9 PPG last season with the Oklahoma City Thunder. With the Los Angeles Lakers, he has settled into a role that doesn’t require him to score as much, as he shares the court with two superstars. However, Dennis Schroder’s ability to run an offense is crucial to the Los Angeles Lakers. Rachel Nichols has shared recently shared a past segment from The Jump, which talked about Schroder’s importance. Nichols also stated that losing Schroder was a big part of what was going wrong. It is no coincidence that they won the game where he was re-inserted into the lineup.
Great stuff from @RKHorry on #TheJump the other day talking about the importance of Dennis Schroder – Anthony Davis being out during the Lakers’ losing streak has gotten all the headlines, but missing Dennis the Menace at the same time has been a big part of what was going wrong pic.twitter.com/XUIW5IShZ3

Dennis Schroder is an extremely important point guard for the Los Angeles Lakers. He is the tertiary scoring option on that roster and is the player who has to set up his teammates when LeBron James takes a rest. Nichols is right: Dennis Schroder’s absence has been a big part of their losing streak, and they should reverse course now that he’s healthy.
